Recent donuts
The Sydney donut scene is rather excellent at the moment – lots of variety and something new seems to be popping up all the time. Here are a few recent circular-shaped, baked goods I’ve enjoyed!
I recently tried Grumpy Donuts and they were scrumptious! The Easter-special hot cross bun had a soft, squishy vanilla dough filled with a cinnamon-flavoured cream, with a spiced-icing top. Then there was the blueberry fritter – which was a real bang-for-your-buck because it was huge – that had crispy bits and soft bits and icing bits all rolled into one.
I’d love to visit again and try more! Note: vegan donuts available

Donut Papi is the business – in addition to creating just-right donuts (not too firm, not to soft), they are always experimenting with new flavours and specials. Pictured above is their Strawberry Milkshake donut which reminds me of the classic pink donuts at old school Australian bakeries, but better; moreish Donut Holes; Fairy Bread special; and the Lamington special.
I love that there’s something new in the window every time I visit. Although, I wasn’t a fan of the Mi Goreng donut (made out of the noodles and then fried). Everything else has been winner!

Pudgy Donuts are the new kids on the block – from the creators of Donut Papi, Pudgy is a completely vegan donut store! On first try, I found the bread to me doughier and more bread-like than I was expecting. One of them also had a slight yeasty flavour. That said, I would happily eat them again, especially the fitter which had lots of texture and flavour.
