Things I Love On The Internet No.3

The IKEA catalogue archives

70 years of IKEA catalogues are now digitised and available to browse on the IKEA Museum website, and wow they are a real feast for the eyes. When I was a teenager, I’d pore over every detail in the IKEA catalogue long before I ever bought anything. Now, they’re time capsules and amazing resources for design inspiration (especially as so many design trends are circling back, eg cottage core, Y2K, midcentury modern).

Meeting Sofie

This intimate photo-series by Snezhana von Buedingen follows the life of Sofie through love, loss and womanhood. The series is both romantic and raw.

Master Mahjong craftsman Ricky Cheung

I love the experience of playing mahjong; the clicking of the tiles, the chatter that accompanies the game. This article is an intimate portrait of the process that goes into creating the iconic tiles, the history of the game, and how it’s perception has changed over time.

Pinterest Predicts Trends of 2022

I love the execution of Pinterest’s 2022 trend predictions - they capture rising niche interests with entertaining names like “pearlcore” and “dopamine dressing” (pictured above), and give statistics about the actual increase in searches. A great resource for creative and analytical minds alike.
