Things I Love On The Internet No.2

What’s on the menu? Archive from the New York Public Library

I was recently introduced to this website which catalogues menus from the New York Public Library’s collection, and it is truly a feast for your eyes! I read the menus like novels, imagining what it would have been like to sit down at a restaurant table and eat the spoils described.

I love how certain dishes can transport you to a certain time, place or occasion, and I love seeing the design trends they capture. The menus date as far back as the 1850s!

The Dispatch Newsletter from At Claude’s

Claudette is that friend that always has their finger to the pulse and if she has a recommendation, you take it seriously. And now she’s sharing her reviews of books, theatre, movies, tv shows, podcasts and food in a regular newsletter entitled The Dispatch. Getting these in my inbox has been so lovely - they remind me of the intimacy of snail mail - and her recommendations are always on point. You won’t regret signing up!

Winona Ryder’s photographs of Winona, her hometown and namesake

This series of photographs was taken by iconic actress Winona Ryder in the small, American town of Winona in Minnesota where she was born. I love that these photographs give you a glimpse into the daily, quietude of the town. And the overall, the vintage designs of the buildings are right up my alley!
